When I represent MIP clients, we have a few goals in mind. We want to work toward getting the case dismissed, and we want a better result than the average Joe or Jane in the courtroom. A young client should not have a criminal record from an MIP, and should not be hit with years of testing and oversight. My clients are good people who make a mistake, and want to move on with their life.
I put my clients through a comprehensive MIP boot camp, which challenges my clients during their case. I'm usually tougher on my clients than the judge is going to be. I do this for two reasons: one I genuinely want to get my client the help/assistance he/she needs to make better decisions in the future, and if I'm tough on my clients in the short period of time, so my clients are hit with years of probation and oversight. We sprint in order to avoid the probation marathon.
