Experienced Michigan MIP Attorney
Hi, my name is Jonathan Paul, and I solve problems for my clients; very real and serious problems. As part of my criminal law practice, I defend doctors, fellow attorneys, executives, senior military officers, teachers, professional and college athletes, airline pilots, and the good hard working people of Michigan who find themselves charged with a crime.
I'm licensed to practice law in Michigan and New York. I graduated from the University of Michigan Law School.
I'm an author of five books, the Ann Arbor Criminal Defense Playbook, the Michigan DUI Playbook: Defenses, Techniques & Strategies and CASE DISMISSED: How to Win Your Retail Fraud Case: A Proactive Approach to Criminal Defense, and Confessions of a Former Michigan Prosecutor which can purchased on Amazon.
I educate and lecture on criminal defense with ICLE (Institute of Continuing Legal Education) for other Michigan attorneys looking to improve their own knowledge and career success.
I've been selected and recognized in 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 & 2018 by Super Lawyers Magazine; the prestigious magazine selects the top 2.5 percent of attorneys in Michigan, and in my opinion is the gold standard for attorney rankings. My selection by Super Lawyers Magazine was featured in Hour Detroit Magazine and the New York Times. My work as a Michigan criminal defense lawyer has also earned me a "Superb" 10.0 Avvo Rating.
Prior to entering private practice, I was an Assistant District Attorney in New York City, and an Oakland County (Michigan) Prosecutor. As a prosecutor, I successfully prosecuted thousands of cases, including felony, misdemeanor and drunk driving cases.
Because of our success, and the demand for our services, our firm uses an exclusive legal representation policy. This policy limits the number of criminal law cases that we accept each year. The policy was developed to ensure that our select clients receive the proper care and attention their case deserves. We take every call, and talk to every client, but we cannot represent everyone that calls us. If we don't have room to take your case, we will provide you with the name and number of another excellent attorney.
That being said, you should do your research, and learn about what you're looking for in a criminal defense lawyer in Michigan. You're hiring someone to protect your rights, possibly keep you out of jail, and save you from having a criminal record. You also need to work closely with your attorney for weeks, months or even a year; you should be comfortable communicating with them. Our firm does the same exact thing when selecting our criminal clients.
To discuss your case, give me a call at 248-924-9458 or email me. I am available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days of the year. It may take me a moment to get back to you as I may be in court or with my family, but I will do my best to respond within this time frame.
Fees for cases such as Minor in Possession, Fake ID, UIP, Disorderly Conduct and Open Container can range from $1500 to $2500.
Based on my experience as a prosecutor, and now working with clients, hiring strong legal counsel is simply an investment in your future.
You simply need to be a wise consumer, and should not look for the easiest and cheapest way to get rid of your case. You only get one chance to defend yourself. Think twice about why some attorney is giving you a hard sell and such a low price. Ask questions, be smart.
Now you have some insight into my background and my qualifications. I'm happy to provide more information, and answer your questions..
